The ninth-generation Volkswagen Passat will make its global debut at the end of August 2023

The new-generation VW Passat
According to news on July 19, Volkswagen’s ninth-generation Passat will usher in its world premiere at the end of August.
Volkswagen has now revealed the first preview details of the new-generation Passat.
The new car is equipped with many innovative features, such as intuitive display and operating logic, high-end interior, new adaptive chassis control system, premium seats and a plug-in hybrid drive system with up to 100 kilometers of electric range.
The new Passat will go on sale in the first quarter of 2024.
This series of models is positioned as a mid-size sedan, with a history of more than 50 years and sales of more than 30 million vehicles.
According to reports, the design of the new Passat has fully tapped the potential of the modular transverse matrix (MQB evo) in the new development stage.
Kai Grenz, Member of the Volkswagen Brand Management Board responsible for development, said: “For the new Passat, we paid great attention to a high sitting position and driving comfort, which we want customers to feel right away.
This is due to the longer wheelbase and the new Our Adaptive Chassis Control system, which is equipped with twin-valve dampers.
At the same time, our new display and operating concept is very intuitive.
The climate-controlled massaging seats demonstrate our high standards when it comes to interiors.”
Thanks to high-grade materials and effective sound insulation, the overall quality and comfort of this new car have been raised to a new level.
ErgoActive front seats are said to be available as an option.
The seats are electronically adjustable (up to 14-way depending on model and equipment) and feature different configurations for massage and air conditioning.
The interior structure of the new Passat has been systematically adjusted according to the new concept, taking into account feedback from Volkswagen customers, in order to achieve the most intuitive operation possible.
Therefore, the new Passat will be equipped with a newly developed smart cockpit and infotainment system, equipped with a 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel and a 12.9-inch large screen, and can also be equipped with a 15-inch touch screen and HUD head-up display, depending on the equipment configuration.
There are also physical buttons on the multifunction steering wheel – making operation even easier, while backlit touch sliders sit below the infotainment display for adjusting functions such as interior temperature and volume.
The new Passat has more space in the rear, the length of the new car has increased by 14 centimeters, the legroom has increased by 5 centimeters, and the luggage compartment capacity has also increased by 40 liters to 690 liters, and can even be increased to a maximum of 1920 liters (with the rear seats folded).
The car also integrates the new DCC Pro and Vehicle Dynamics Management system, greatly improving the performance of the new car, increasing the four-link rear axle pitch stiffness and greater lateral force (improve rear axle stability, thus improving driving safety performance), as well as new electromechanical steering, revised anti-roll bars and dampers, tuned for different wheels.
VW is also giving this car a further developed Adaptive Chassis Control system with optional DCC Pro and twin-valve dampers.
The system continuously responds to the road surface and driving situation, taking into account parameters such as steering, braking and acceleration actions, calculating the ideal damping for each wheel and making adjustments within a fraction of a second.

The MQB
The model also comes standard with the vehicle dynamics management system MQB, which controls the function of the electronic differential lock (XDS) in the DCC Pro system and the lateral dynamic elements in the controlled dampers.
Thanks to the Vehicle Dynamics Management System, the handling of the new car has become more neutral, stable, agile and precise.
It is worth mentioning that Volkswagen also provides a new generation of IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights for high-end packages, which are flatter than the previous generation, but have a range of about 500 meters, while the taillights use continuous horizontal LEDs to form a light strip.
The editor noticed that the new Passat will provide various power versions to choose from, whether it is a diesel engine (TDI), a turbocharged gasoline engine (TSI), a hybrid turbocharged gasoline engine (eTSI) or a plug-in hybrid system (eHybrid) can be tried.
Compared with previous generations, the new plug-in hybrid models can achieve an electric range of up to 100 kilometers (depending on configuration).
In addition, all plug-in hybrid models will support higher AC charging power, and DC charging will also become standard configuration for the first time.
