FAW Toyota’s new Corolla will be officially launched on May 21. The new car has been unveiled at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show before. The main change is the replacement of the fifth-generation THS hybrid technology.
The fuel consumption and speed-up performance of the new 1.8L hybrid system have been optimized. At the same time, the front face of the new car has also been slightly adjusted.

The front face of the new Corolla has been slightly adjusted, and the center grille has not changed. The internal structure of the headlights has been changed from a multi-frame daytime running light strip to a sharper single daytime running light strip.
The chrome-plated trim is added, and the lower air intake grille is changed from horizontal black plastic to a honeycomb shape, and the overall three-dimensional effect of the front face is stronger. The body and rear of the car have not been significantly adjusted, which is consistent with the current model.
In terms of configuration, it is reported that the rear double wishbone independent suspension of the fuel version will be changed to a torsion beam type. At the same time, the new car’s 8 airbags are changed to 6 airbags.
The instrument size of the entry-level Pioneer version is upgraded to 7 inches, and the large 10.25-inch central control screen is also standard for all series. The new model will be equipped with TSS 3.0 Zhixing safety assistance system, equipped with the latest intelligent interconnection and other configurations, and provide CarLife/Carplay mobile phone interconnection and so on.
In terms of power, the new car will still provide three options, including a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine and a 1.2T engine, matching a CVT gearbox. As a key upgrade part of the new model, the hybrid version will be equipped with the fifth-generation THS hybrid system.
The new system 1.8L three-electric system reduces 13.3kg, and the comprehensive power is increased by 12%. It uses a miniaturized, high-speed motor to increase power output while reducing losses.
The PCU electronic control unit has achieved 2% miniaturization and 17% weight reduction, reducing loss by about 10%. It is worth mentioning that it also adopts a newly developed lithium battery system. While achieving the current 34% miniaturization and 44% weight reduction, the power output capacity has increased by 8%.
The official said that its 0-60km/h acceleration capability can be increased by 14%.
