Proton celebrated its 40th
On May 8th, Proton Malaysia celebrated its 40th anniversary and launched the X90 in Kuala Lumpur. Proton launched its first new energy model, the X90.
With the strategic support of Geely, Proton will launch at least one new energy product every year, and will jointly train 5,000 new energy vehicle talents with the Proton system within five years.
In 2017, Geely Holding Group signed a final agreement with Malaysia’s DRB-HICOM Group to acquire a 49.9% stake in DRB-HICOM’s PROTON and a 51% stake in the luxury sports car brand Lotus.
Proton car sales will increase from 64,744 units in 2018 to 141,432 units in 2022, a sales growth of 118%. By the end of 2022, Proton will double its operating income, rank second in sales and market share in the Malaysian market for four consecutive years, and rank first in overseas export sales.
In April this year, Geely also signed a framework agreement on deepening cooperation with DRB-HICOM Group to carry out in-depth cooperation around Tanjung Malim Automotive High-Tech Valley, Malaysia.
In addition, smart under Geely Holdings has signed an agency agreement with Proton to launch the first electric car smart #1 in the Malaysian market in the fourth quarter of 2023.
