CATL to build chassis production base in China’s Yichun city

CATL (Shanghai) Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. (“CATL Intelligent Tech”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of CATL, on Jan. 18 signed an agreement with the Management Committee of Yichun Economic & Technological Development Zone for a CIIC (CATL Integrated Intelligent Chassis) manufacturing project, according to a post on CATL’s WeChat account.

Under the agreement, CATL Intelligent Tech will build its first manufacturing base of integrated intelligent chassis enabled by the CTC (Cell to Chassis) technology in Yichun city, Jiangxi province.

The battery giant said the move will greatly contribute to the development and application of its CTC technology and skateboard chassis products.

Through the CTC technology, key components in battery and other systems are integrated at the bottom of the vehicle, with no need of separate battery packs.

This can reduce the user acquisition cost and energy consumption, increase the distance per charge and expand the passenger space, according to CATL’s introduction.

CATL Intelligent Tech focuses on the design, production, sale, and service provision of the CIIC products.

On January 10, HOZON Auto, the owner of Chinese electric vehicle (EV) brand NETA, and CATL Intelligent Tech inked a cooperation agreement on the CIIC project, making NETA the first Chinese startup-owned auto brand to develop the CIIC technology.
