
Kia to sell 133,000 EVs in Q1 2023, up over 20% YoY

According to data from Kia, they sold a total of 768,251 vehicles globally in the first quarter, an increase of 12% year-on-year, of which 626,511 were sold in overseas markets, an increase of 11.1% year-on-year; sales in the Korean market were 141,740 vehicles, an increase of 16.5% year-on-year.
Kia disclosed in its financial report that their electric vehicles sold 133,000 units in the first quarter, including hybrid vehicles, plug-in hybrid vehicles and pure electric vehicles, an increase of 21.1% year-on-year, and their share of sales also increased to 18.1% %, an increase of 2.3 percentage points over the same period last year.
The sharp increase in sales also pushed up Kia’s revenue in the first quarter. The financial report shows that their revenue in the first quarter was 23.69 trillion won, a year-on-year increase of 29.1%.
In terms of profit, the financial report shows that their operating profit in the first quarter was 2.87 trillion won, a year-on-year increase of 78.9%; net profit was 2.12 trillion won, a year-on-year increase of 105.3%.
