Kia EV9 SUV

Kia’s EV9 electric SUV model has strong sales momentum, with orders exceeding 13,000 units within 8 days of its launch.

According to news on July 19, the Kia EV9 was released in March this year.

It is Kia’s largest electric vehicle so far and Kia’s first three-row electric SUV.

According to the Korea Economic Daily, Kia began delivering the EV9 in the Korean domestic market on June 19, and the electric SUV received more than 13,000 orders in its first eight days on the market, and completed deliveries of 1,334 units in June.

A Kia executive said more than 50 percent of the bookings came from new customers for the brand, and a similar story is happening with Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 electric SUV.

Last week, Kia announced a new investment of more than $200 million (currently about 1.434 billion RMB) to expand its West Point, Georgia plant to make room for EV9 assembly.

The EV9 will be Kia’s first electric vehicle assembled in North America starting in the second quarter of next year.

The 800V E-GMP platform

Based on Hyundai Motor Group’s 800V E-GMP platform (the same model as IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6 and EV6), the Kia EV9 can charge from 10% to 80% in 25 minutes and increase the driving range by 148 miles (approximately 238.18 kilometers).

The new car will adopt a full-size three-row layout, with excellent passenger space performance and powerful intelligent systems.

The size of Kia EV9 is comparable to that of Cadillac Escalade or Kia Telluride (the length, width and height of the concept car are 4930/2055/1790mm respectively, the vehicle The wheelbase is 3100mm).

The front face of Kia EV9 is very rich in layers. The “KIA” logo is located on the top of the front grille.

It has LED headlights with vertical and dotted layouts.

The lighting effect is very unique.

The LED taillights adopt a three-prong shape. Traditional glass rearview mirror and electronic virtual rearview mirror.

The mass-produced version of the EV9 largely uses the design of the concept car unveiled two years ago.

The special-shaped headlights on both sides and the matrix light source are very eye-catching, and it also gives the new car a sense of the future.

In addition, the closed front grille also brings a tough style, and it is suspected that there is a vent design above the grille, which may provide some help for heat dissipation and wind resistance.

The rear of the new car adopts a fairly recognizable light-guiding LED taillight with a trident shape, creating an avant-garde and technological look for the EV9.

Referring to some of the previously released data, it is expected that the new car will accelerate from 100 kilometers to less than 5 seconds, with a fully charged range of 540 kilometers, and 100 kilometers can be driven in 6 minutes of charging.

The EV9 incorporates Kia’s latest automotive technologies such as the group’s most advanced highway driving navigation, OTA updates, on-board generator function (V2L) and UWB ultra-wideband-based digital car key.

The EV9 is said to offer “true SUV features,” including 7.8 inches of ground clearance, 81.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the first row, up to 5,000 pounds of towing capacity, and available torque-vectoring dual-motor all-wheel-drive performance.

The EV9 comes standard with a 76.1 kWh battery (fourth generation) and a 215 hp (160 kW) electric motor; you can also choose a 99.8 kWh battery model with a range of up to 300 miles; for 516 lb-ft.

Although Kia has not announced the price of the US market, based on European prices, the starting price of the EV9 long-range version is about 65,000 to 70,000 US dollars, and the starting price of the standard model is about 60,000 US dollars (currently about 430,000 RMB).
