In 2023, Leapmotor released a centrally integrated electrical and electronic architecture

The new Leapmotor architecture

According to news on July 31, Leapmotor released a centrally integrated electronic and electrical architecture yesterday afternoon, named “Clover”.

According to the official statement, “four-leaf clover” implies openness to the sun and strong iterative power, which is consistent with the characteristics of “four domains in one” of the new Leapmotor architecture.

According to reports, Leapmotor’s “Clover” architecture will integrate the cockpit domain, smart driving domain, power domain, and body domain.

In the future, models developed based on this architecture will have a higher degree of integration and can realize non-sensing OTA and personalized functions.

It is worth noting that this architecture reduces the number of controllers from 42 to 28, the wiring harness from 1800 meters to 1500 meters, the data bandwidth can be increased from 100Mbps to 1000Mbps, and the power management mode can also be increased from more than 10 to more than 30 kind.

In addition, the official claims to use two chips to realize the central supercomputing, which has the characteristics of “high computing power, fast communication, and low latency”.

The platform provides three solutions

The Leapmotor new platform provides three solutions of standard configuration/medium configuration/high configuration for subsequent models to adapt according to positioning:

Standard solution
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 + NXP S32G middle configuration
‎Supports 6-12 speakers
‎Support 4 screens and AR-HUD
‎Support 4-way surround view camera
‎Supports 12 layers of ultrasonic volume up to

‎Medium solution
‎Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 + NXP S32G High Spec
‎Maximum support for 20+ speakers (external power amplifier)
‎Maximum support 4 channels of 2.5K resolution, 1 channel of 1080P, 2 channels of 720P
‎Support 4-way surround view camera
‎Support L2 / L2 + level intelligent assisted driving

‎High configuration solutions
‎8295 + NXP S32G High Spec + NVIDIA OrinX
‎Maximum support for 20+ speakers (external power amplifier)
‎Maximum support 4 channels of 2.5K resolution, 1 channel of 1080P, 2 channels of 720P
‎Support 4-way surround view camera
‎Support 4-way blind spot camera, 4-way blind spot corner radar
‎Support lidar, high-precision map
‎Support L2++ advanced intelligent assisted driving

Among them, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip can be used to realize L2-level intelligent driving such as ACC, and can also be deeply integrated with the intelligent cockpit, and integrate functions such as power amplifier, surround view, and fatigue monitoring.

In terms of software architecture, the “four-leaf clover” architecture supports deep integration of multi-system software, enabling stronger interaction and user experience.

At the same time, the architecture also reserves more than 500 interfaces, which can realize personalized customization of software and hardware interfaces such as sound/light/doors and windows/screens/light groups/screens/air conditioners.

Leapmotor’s “Clover” architecture is the industry’s first vehicle-level non-inductive online OTA upgrade platform.

The “Four Leaf Clover” architecture meets the needs of five-generational evolution, with no impact, standardization, short cycle, and low-cost upgrades.

According to previous reports, this architecture will realize the mass production of the first central supercomputing platform in China, and the first global car developed based on this new platform will be unveiled at the Munich Motor Show in September.

It was also reported that overseas companies are negotiating technical cooperation with Leapmotor, a new force in Chinese car manufacturing, and substantial progress has been made.

Once the cooperation is reached, Leapmotor will become the first Chinese new car company whose technology goes overseas.

Leapmotor has a layout in many core areas of smart cars such as batteries, electric motors, electronic control systems, intelligent driving and smart cockpits.

Through technology output, it can become the second source of profit for Leapmotor.
