On July 24th, according to news from overseas media such as motor.es, BYD Song PLUS EV Champion Edition will officially enter the European market, and the new car is scheduled to be unveiled during the opening of Munich Station in September.
According to the pictures of the new car provided by local media, the official name of the car in the European market will be “Seal U”.
In addition, it is revealed that the starting price of the car in Europe is expected to be within 50,000 euros, but the actual pricing information needs to be subject to official announcements.
The name was chosen because the letter U stands for “Utility,” which means “multi-function” in Chinese (the word is included in the full name of SUV, Sport Utility Vehicles, and the full Chinese name is Sports Utility / Multi-purpose Vehicle).
Judging from the front face of the new car, there are indeed many similarities with the seal car model.
BYD Song PLUS EV Champion Edition
As BYD’s compact SUV, BYD Song PLUS Champion Edition was announced in the Chinese market in June this year, and the price range of EV models is 169,800-209,800 RMB.
Compared with the old models, the BYD Song PLUS Champion Edition adopts a brand-new exterior design style.
The EV model is equipped with a closed front grille, and the through-type taillights are also redesigned to further fit the style of BYD Ocean series models.
In terms of body size, the length, width, and height of the BYD Song PLUS Champion Edition EV model are 4785/1890/1660 mm, and the wheelbase is 2765 mm.
Compared with the old model, the body length is increased by 80 mm, the body height is reduced by 20 mm, and the body width and wheelbase remain unchanged.
In terms of interior, the EV model of BYD Song PLUS Champion Edition basically follows the design style of the old model, and the center of the steering wheel is synchronously updated with the “BYD” brand logo.
On this basis, the car comes standard with a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument, an adaptive rotating central control screen with two specifications of 12.8 inches and 15.6 inches, and a built-in DiLink intelligent network connection system.
In terms of power, all BYD Song PLUS champion EV models adopt the form of front-wheel drive. Among them, the 520-kilometer battery life version (CLTC test standard) is equipped with a drive motor with a maximum power of 150 kW and a peak torque of 310 Nm, and a power battery pack of 71.8 kWh;
The 605-kilometer battery pack has a maximum power of 160 kW and a peak torque of 330 Nm.
It is understood that BYD Song PLUS EV Champion Edition will be the sixth passenger car launched by BYD in the European market.
Among them, BYD Han, BYD Yuan PLUS (Atto 3) and BYD Tang are already on sale locally, while BYD Dolphin, BYD Seal and BYD Song PLUS EV Champion Edition will be launched within this year.
The overall appearance and interior of Seal U are consistent with those of domestic models, and it also uses a 15.6-inch rotating central control screen and DiLink intelligent network connection system.
In terms of power, the new car provides a power system in the European market with a maximum power of 160kW; matched with 71.8kWh and 87kWh batteries, the cruising range under WLTP conditions is 420 kilometers and 500 kilometers respectively.
According to BYD’s official Facebook page in Europe, the frigate 07 models currently on sale in China are expected to be sold in the local market as derivative models of the Tang series.
At present, BYD has launched five models in the European market, namely the Han series, Yuan PLUS (ATTO 3), and Tang series that have already been launched, as well as the Dolphin launched in July and the Seal launched in September.
