BYD enters the Caribbean region and confirms it is in talks to build a Brazilian factory.
News on June 29, according to BYD Auto’s official news, on June 26, BYD officially announced that it has reached a cooperation with overseas auto dealer ATL Automobile Group.
It will jointly provide new energy passenger vehicle products for the Caribbean region and promote the local vehicle electrification process.
BYD is the world’s leading leader in new energy vehicles.
Up to now, BYD has sold more than 4.3 million new energy vehicles globally, and continues to provide users around the world with an excellent electric travel experience.
Founded in 1997, auto dealer ATL Automobile Group has become the largest investor in Jamaica’s automotive sector since 2010, with excellent management capabilities and outstanding business levels.
The signing ceremony between the two parties was held in Kingston.

Adam Stewart, executive chairman of auto dealer ATL Automobile Group, said, “We will fully accept reservations and expect to start deliveries in October.

According to previous reports, BYD Auto has launched business or released new cars in Italy, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Australia and other countries and regions this month.

BYD plans to build a factory in Brazil
BYD confirmed it was in talks to build a Brazilian plant with an annual output of about 150,000 vehicles.
On June 29th, according to Brazil’s “Globe” report, Tyler Li, president of BYD Brazil, said that the company will soon open a new factory in Brazil, and confirmed that it will start selling the entry-level electric model Dolphin in Brazil, with a listed price of 149,800 Rea Er (currently about 223,800 RMB).
Tyler Li said that BYD is currently negotiating with the Brazilian federal government and the Bahia state government to build a local factory with an annual production capacity of about 150,000 vehicles.
Previously, media reported that BYD intends to acquire the Ford factory in northeastern Brazil.
The factory is located in Bahia, with an annual production capacity of about 300,000 vehicles.
It will stop production in 2021. The factory is still owned by Ford Motor.
According to previous reports, BYD signed a letter of intent with the Bahia state government in October last year, and plans to invest about 3 billion reais (currently about 4.481 billion RMB) to set up an electric vehicle production base in an industrial park on the outskirts of Salvador, the capital of the state.
Create 1,200 direct jobs for the local area.
According to Tyler Li, in addition to processing lithium iron phosphate batteries, the new factory will also produce chassis for electric cars, trucks, buses and hybrid passenger cars.
He also stressed that there would be “no limits” to investment in the plant.
BYD opened a factory in Campinas, Brazil, in 2015 to make electric bus chassis and photovoltaic modules for solar panels.
In 2020, BYD set up another factory in Manaus to produce lithium iron phosphate batteries.
