Connected car sales to grow 12% in 2022

According to the latest report released by Counterpoint Research, sales of connected cars will increase by 12% year-on-year in 2022, accounting for more than 50% of total car sales.
The US remains the strongest market for connected cars, followed by China and Europe.
These three markets will account for nearly 80% of total global connected car sales in 2022. Although the proportion of connected cars in Japan is relatively small, the penetration rate is growing the fastest.
The report pointed out that car companies are currently mainly equipped with 4G connection services, accounting for 95%.
5G is still a niche market, only available in vehicles like the Ford F-150 Lightning, Cadillac LYRIQ, Mercedes-Benz EQS, Audi e-tron GT, BMW iX and Great Wall Motor Haval HG.
In terms of brands, Volkswagen topped the list with 11.7%, followed by Toyota and GM. The top five automotive groups account for nearly half of connected cars sold in 2022. Tesla entered the top ten list for the first time.
