BYD DMI Indonesia’s Electric Taxi Market with 80% New Car Sales

News on May 30, according to Bloomberg News, Indonesia’s largest taxi operator Blue Bird will purchase electric vehicles from BYD, accounting for 80% of its new fleet, and re-evaluate Tesla’s order, because low-cost models are in the market. The Indonesian market is more popular.


Blue Bird President Sigit Priawan Djokosoetono said in an interview that most of the 500 electric vehicles that will be delivered to Blue Bird this year will be produced by BYD, especially the E6 and T3 models, as these vehicles are more suitable for the Indonesian market.


Indonesia has one of the world’s largest reserves of nickel, a key ingredient in batteries. At present, Indonesia is focusing on the development of the electric vehicle industry, and has launched various measures and subsidy policies to encourage domestic consumers to purchase electric vehicles and support domestic and foreign electric vehicle companies to invest and build factories in Indonesia.


On May 25, BYD signed a memorandum of understanding with the Indonesian government to explore investment potential between China and Indonesia, including in the field of electric vehicles.
