GoodWood Festival of Speed
Hyundai will publicly showcase the IONIQ 5 N car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK, and it will hit the Chinese market in 2024.
The Ioniq 5 N rides on the same E-GMP electric platform as the standard version, but with a larger 84kWh battery, a bespoke all-wheel-drive system and a suite of technologies that “merge driver and car as one”.
With 600bhp as standard and 545lb ft of torque, the Ioniq 5 N surpasses the 577bhp Kia EV6 GT it shares a platform with.
In ‘N Grin Boost’ mode, power is boosted to 641bhp and 567lb ft of torque, with a 0-62mph time of just 3.4 seconds, beating the BMW M3.
The appearance of the Ioniq 5 N is also very different from the regular version, lower and wider, with an increase of 80mm in length and 50mm in width.
The front bumper has also been redesigned for a more track-inspired look, with active air intake grilles added to cool the brakes.
A winged spoiler, diffuser and air outlets have been added at the top of the rear to optimize airflow and aerodynamics.
The interior also adds new bucket seats and a custom steering wheel, as well as a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and center console screen.
In addition, the Ioniq 5 N also simulates the gearbox and engine sound of a traditional gasoline car, and there will be actual vibrations when changing gears to enhance driving pleasure.
The braking system of the Ioniq 5 N has also been significantly improved for track scenarios.
Hyundai combines its kinetic energy recuperation system with hydraulic braking systems, where 40-50% of the braking force is carried by the kinetic energy recovery system on the track and 80-90% on the road.
The battery capacity of the Ioniq 5 N is 84kWh, and the cruising range is expected to be between 200-220 miles (about 320-350 kilometers).
Thanks to its 800V architecture, it can charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
It is reported that the Ioniq 5 N will be launched next year, and the price has not yet been announced, but it is expected to be around 65,000 pounds (about 600,000 RMB).
