Polestar 5

The latest official image of Polestar 5 has been released, positioning it as a mid-to-large 4-door GT coupe.

On July 13, Polestar officially announced the official image of its new Polestar 5 model.

This model is positioned as a medium-to-large pure electric 4-door GT coupe, which is at the same level as the Porsche Taycan.

According to reports, this new car will be unveiled at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed, which will open from July 13 to 16, and Polestar 3, Polestar 2 BST edition 230 limited edition, 2024 Polestar 2, and Polestar 6 will also be unveiled together.

Following a strong month of deliveries in June (up 73% year-on-year), Polestar had its best quarter ever, delivering around 15,800 vehicles, a 36% increase compared to the same period last year.

After inquiry, it was learned that Polestar’s global delivery volume in the first six months hit a record high of about 27,900 vehicles, and officials expect to deliver 60,000-70,000 vehicles by 2023.

Based on the development and evolution of the Polestar Precept concept car, this model adopts a new design style and is scheduled to be launched in 2024.

The Polestar R&D team stated that Polestar 5 has the excellent performance of a small batch of performance cars, and has applied the latest forward-looking engineering technology to allow mass production of lightweight, high-strength sports car chassis technology.

Polestar brand

Mr. Thomas Ingratt, Global CEO of Polestar, said: “Polestar 5 is a model that redefines the Polestar brand.

Its pioneering design and advanced engineering technology set the tone for the future of Polestar.”

This model will be built with the latest design concept of the Polestar family, with a very avant-garde design.

The “L”-shaped headlights and front grille design on the front face will become the latest family face, with stronger brand recognition Spend.

In addition, this model will also feature hidden door handles, and the car is expected to have a streaming media rearview mirror.

Relying on the all-aluminum bonding platform, Polestar 5 will have more lightweight, high rigidity, high performance, and environmental protection product features, and its body-in-white weight is expected to be lower than that of smaller cars on the market.

In terms of power, Polestar 5 adopts a new pure electric power system, which is based on an 800-volt electrical architecture.

It will have higher charging power, shorter charging time, and will also be equipped with a dual-motor four-wheel drive system.

Although the development of its powertrain is still in progress, Polestar has confirmed that its output target is 874 horsepower, and it is expected to reach 650 kilowatts of power and 900 Nm of peak torque.

Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath described the four-door grand tourer, due in 2024, as a “company-defining project”.

“Its cutting-edge design and advanced engineering set the tone for the future of Polestar,” said Ingelath.

“We have great people who have enabled us to create a truly iconic electric vehicle.”

Speaking of the launch, Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath said: “Goodwood is our favorite place to showcase our cars in a frenetic setting.”

“This year, we are delighted to be presenting the Polestar 5 on the hill.

Our UK R&D team have done a fantastic job developing the car and we are proud to highlight their hard work in the early stages.”

Full production specifications for the Polestar 5 aren’t expected until late next year, but Polestar has confirmed its flagship sedan will gain “supercar”-level body stiffness from an all-new platform developed at a new R&D facility in Warwickshire.

According to an interview with Autocar earlier this year, the Polestar 5 is the first Polestar car developed in the UK, and the first car “designed and developed by Polestar” rather than a base model derived from Volvo.
