2023 Kia & Hyundai HEV Battery Upgrade – Enjoy Innovative Experience!

On May 22, according to South Korea’s ET news, Hyundai Motor Company has independently developed batteries for HEV hybrid vehicles, and the new batteries will be installed in new models of its Hyundai and Kia next year.
According to reports, this battery was developed by Hyundai Motor’s Nanyang Research Center and has a battery capacity of up to 10Ah.
This is a high-nickel lithium battery, and in order to achieve higher battery capacity, a new material with increased nickel content is used.
The battery pack is packaged in a pouch-shaped battery pack suitable for hybrid vehicles.
Models

Hyundai Motor Company has started research and development of batteries for hybrid vehicles since 2020, and has established a battery production line at the Nanyang Research Center for manufacturing.
In the future, it is expected to mass-produce batteries through joint venture battery factories between Hyundai Motor and LG New Energy or SK On.
For all of 2022, Hyundai and Kia will sell a combined 300,000 hybrids, still trailing archrival Toyota’s 2.7 million.
Analysts pointed out that Hyundai hopes to enhance the competitiveness of the hybrid vehicle market with the help of self-developed HEV batteries and establish a stable battery supply chain.
