Musk said back in 2021 that a purely visual self-driving solution would be better than a combination of radar and vision. Musk cited uncertainty in the combination of radar and vision. Tesla had already removed the radar system from the Model 3 and Model Y in North America.
After removing the radar from the Model 3 and Model Y, Tesla will also remove the radar system from the Model S and Model X, according to a previous statement from Tesla.
