2024 Mercedes-AMG GT revealed
2024 Mercedes AMG GT sports car release: a new design, the first 2+2 seat layout.
Mercedes-AMG has taken the wraps off the highly anticipated second-generation AMG GT sports car at Monterey Car Week, a Porsche 911 rival with a new look and improved comfort.
It provides an optional 2+2 seat layout.
Available only as a coupe, the new GT packs AMG’s latest performance and chassis technology, including standard variable all-wheel drive.
I noticed that despite every part of the bodywork being redesigned, the new GT is still highly recognizable.
The angry face features a Pan-American grille with a glossy black extension underneath, reminiscent of the soon-to-be-retired Black Series.
The headlights are more subdued, while the slender taillights are joined together by a molding that sits below an active rear spoiler.
The model gets 20-inch wheels as standard, with 21-inch alloys optional.
The rear haunches are wider, reminiscent of a 911, and the proportions are more harmonious than before.
That’s because the new AMG GT is 182mm longer than its predecessor at 4,728mm, its wheelbase is also 70mm longer at 2,700mm, and the new-generation model is also 45mm wider and 66mm taller than its predecessor.

The AMG GT is based on a new architecture
Although the exterior and proportions look familiar, the AMG GT is based on a new architecture using aluminium, steel, magnesium and fiber composites (glass and carbon) that allow for a 2+2 seating layout and larger The trunk provides more space.
Inside, the car features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch infotainment screen carried over from the SL convertible, as well as an AMG performance steering wheel and bucket seats with integrated headrests.
A high-end and sporty atmosphere.
Rear space looks very tight, only suitable for children or people under 1.5 meters tall.
The luggage compartment volume is between 321 liters and 675 liters, which is suitable for long-distance travel.
In terms of power, the new car’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine has been upgraded to increase power and torque, while meeting Euro 7 emission standards.
At launch, the model will be offered in two V8-powered versions.
The entry-level 55 version has 469 hp (350 kW / 476 ps) and 700 Nm (516 lb ft) of torque, the 0-100 km/h acceleration time is the same as the SL convertible in 3.9 seconds, and the top speed is 295 km/h / Hour.
The more powerful GT 63 version has 577 horsepower (430 kW / 585ps) and 800 Nm (590 lb ft) of torque, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 315 km/h.
It’s unclear if AMG will offer a low-profile version of the 43 with a turbocharged four-cylinder like the SL convertible, but spy shots suggest a more powerful plug-in hybrid GT E Performance version It will definitely be launched.
The new car is only available with a nine-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission, mounted behind the engine, with a wet-launch clutch in place of a torque converter.
Unlike the front-wheel drive version, the GT now comes standard with the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ four-wheel drive system, and other standard features include AMG Active Suspension Control with active roll stabilization, with active stabilizer bars, electronically controlled Rear axle differential lock, active rear wheel steering and active aerodynamics and other technologies.
